Etsy regret?

Let me start by saying that I love etsy so much, I want to make out with it. I've found so many wonderful things there, like this from therunnybunny,
this from trixiedelicious, and this from mincingmockingbird. Also, selling some of my stuff has kept me in vintage cross stitch leaflets, Cinematic Titanic dvds and, well, stuff I found on etsy... Hmmm. :)

But last week I sold four of my favorite stitches, and the area where I store my completed stitches (and by that I mean a Ziploc bag in my closet) seems so... empty. I don't know what I would do with all the stuff that I make if I didn't sell it, but at the same time it makes me a little sad each time I sell something that was an original design like eat farts this one.

Does anyone else experience this?

I don't have etsy regret, because the things I sell on etsy are bereft of emotional attachment for me.
(That's not entirely true).
But the first time one of our chickens laid an egg and we took it, I felt quite guilty.

Which seemed similar when I started writing this, but actually has little to do with the point you're making...

Glad to be able to indulge in the world of Beefranck like this!
I'm your first comment, so that makes me special.
Or something.

Hey Jamie! I get what you're saying, and I kinda think it does have to do what I'm saying. Maybe. :)

And of COURSE you're special. :D

Awww! Don't think of it as losing some favorites, think of it as making room for MORE favorites! Just like those moms that kill their children :)

EP, I would venture a guess that you are the first person on blogger whose first comment references infantcide. Nicely done. :D

i feel ya...because some of the things i listed i didn't make to sell in the first place. then when my favorites sell i'm like "well, guess i can't keep that one" but truthfully our house was literally overrun with embroidery & cross stitch it was getting kinda out of hand! and emergency pants you almost sent me into a giggle fit!

i understand not having an original design and being bummed about it. but in all honestly i love it when my favorite pieces sell! it makes me feel like i have connected with another person out there.. which makes me very happy. i do have a stash of piece i will never ever sell, they stay in my apartment. i even had a friend try to buy one off of me and im like nope! sorry :) glad to see you posting!

OK, so I'm not the only one. :) Now I just want my ideas to get _smaller_.

I'm not sure that I would have an emotional attachment to your last stitch - very funny though.

I do hate parting with some of my art. I won't sell some of the stuff. Only prints - an advantage my type of art has over yours.

Not so much for what I've sold on etsy, but sometimes with gifts.

By the way, "snarky stitches" is a great name.

sometimes I am in l o v e while making the item of indulgence, and then - I make one for myself if need be, and I can release the other into the world - to roam free and play with all the other cool fibery bits
